The aim of this exploratory research is to study lobbying, from a strategic management point of view, such as practised by corporations, both within France and at an european union level. On the one hand, it is a question of analysing the nature and the extent of the integration of lobbying in firms' strategies, as well as the managerial consequences of this. On the other hand, it is a question of identifying the specific features of a practice conditioned by the institutional context in wich it developps. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first parts provides a presentation of lobbying as a socio-political phenomenon, and of the concept of "corporate politiacl strategy".
